Mosaic Tile Mesh and Mounting Paper

Mosaic tile mesh is made of lightweight and flexible fibreglass. It is used when making mosaics using the double direct method, and mounting paper is used when making mosaics using the indirect method.

There are little but very important things to remember when working with mosaic tile mesh.

First, make sure you set your mosaic mesh on a non stick surface such wax paper or parchment paper before you glue your pieces of mosaics on the mesh, otherwise you will be gluing your pieces to your working table.

Second, if your mosaic is large try separating it in smaller sections. For instance, if your mosaic is 24 by 24 inches you should make 4 sections of 12 by 12, this will be easier to handle when it comes time to set it.

Finally you can spread the glue on the fibreglass mesh and then transfer the pieces of your mosaic on it. This is much faster than applying glue to the back of each piece individually.
